Today's society regards a slim and well-proportioned body as the beauty ideal, which means that many people are dissatisfied with their plump bodies; with persistent problem areas and 'love handles' that refuse to be shifted by dieting and exercise.
Up to now, the only other way of removing excess fat involved operational procedures, such as liposuction or ultrasonic and radiofrequency treatments.
These methods, however, all carry some degree of iatrogenic risk, which can now be bypassed with Cryolipolysis.
The innovative and largely painless Cryolipolysis is a treatment that involves killing the fat cells by cooling them. This is done without freezing and potentially damaging the surrounding tissues. As the effectiveness of Cryolipolysis has now been scientifically proven, following extensive testing, we have decided to use it.
The treatment takes place at our clinic in Zug.
How does the cryolipolysis process work?
The Cool Shaping method works by taking advantage of the scientifically proven fact that fat cells crystallize at relatively higher temperatures than other body cells primarily consisting of water. When cells of adipose tissue are specifically cooled to the desired temperature of about 4 ° C using an applicator, they die off and are gradually degraded by the body.
Suitability of the treatment process
The Cryolipolysis is suitable for customers who have stubborn fatty deposits in areas such as hips, buttocks, thighs, upper arms and chin, that persist despite following calorie controlled diets and regular exercise. The treatment, however, is not intended to help obese patients to quickly lose a large amount of weight. As well as targeted fat reduction, a Cryolipolysis treatment has the effect of toning subcutaneous fat.
Cryolipolysis can be carried out as part of a 70-minute treatment unit in one or two areas of the body, depending on the wishes of the customer. Appropriate treatment costs are at 500 CHF (one zone) or 750 CHF (two zones). A zone corresponds to one application.
Before Cryolipolysis
We inform our customers about any steps they need to take before embarking on a Cryolipolysis treatment during a detailed personal consultation. These appropriate measures contribute to a treatment that complication-free and successful on a long-term basis. It is important, for example, to stop taking anti-coagulants such as warfarin and aspirin, for about seven days before treatment. If the regular ingestion of blood-thinning medication is not paused before Cryolipolysis, there is a higher risk of bleeding and bruising following the treatment.
The course of a Cryolipolysis treatment
There is always a comprehensive consultation before Cryolipolysis in our Prevention Centre. This interview is used to determine whether the procedure is suitable for the individual customer and the feasibility of the correction requests.
A single treatment lasts for about 70 minutes. As the treatment method is almost completely painless, our patients can use this time to relax by reading or surfing the Internet. The number of recommended units depends on the extent of desired corrections and the individual's response to treatment. After a single treatment, the amount of unloved fat pads are reduced by approximately 30 per cent. We recommend a second session, which would preferably be held between 4- 8 weeks after the first processing unit.
The skin of the area to be treated is first covered with a cold gel-like protective membrane. The treatment head of the Cryolipolysis device is placed over this covering and sucks, producing a gentle vacuum. An applicator generates a constant temperature of about 4 ° C, which is propagated in the excess fat through the skin tissue. In the following 2-4 months, the dead fat cells are broken down by the body, after which the fat deposits appear significantly reduced.
After treatment
It is normally possible for our customers to immediately resume their daily lives after a treatment, although active exercise should be avoided directly after a Cryolipolysis treatment. We also recommend that you protect the treated body part from being exposed to intense sunlight for some time.
Risks and side effects
As the effect of Cryolipolysis relates exclusively to the fat cells, leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected, the process is very gentle and low-risk. However, risks and side effects of the treatment cannot be entirely excluded. After Cryolipolysis, for example, one may experience a small amount of pressure pain, tenderness, bruising or redness. Depending on the patient, these minor complaints usually subside after a few hours, or a few days at most. Some individuals may experience tiny bubbles in the area of treated skin. These are temporary and are the result of the vacuum created by the applicator. Changes in pigmentation and visibly irregular fat loss, with obvious transitions between treated and untreated tissue are very rare.
Contraindications
In individual cases, some factors can act against the effect of Cryolipolysis. In addition to severe obesity, these factors include diseases of the fatty tissue, some skin conditions, cold or pressure urticaria, vascular inflammation, and pregnancy.
